THANK YOU !

I just wanted to take this opportunity to say THANK YOU to every single of one you !! All of you had a significant part in the planning and I am very grateful for you! From my perspective it looks as though we accomplished what we wanted and MORE ! The first couple hours was a bit 'iffy' but as the day progressed it was a success !! Without the support and encouragement of our friends, family, and personal beliefs, our dreams wouldn't of come true!

I hope you enjoyed it as much as I did! Wished I had more time to actually purchase alot of the goods but at least I have your website and phone number to contact you! I will be forwarding a survey within the next few days so that we may be able to do it next year, 2nd Annual Indie Jubilee !!

Follow our blog, indiejubilee.blogspot.com for future events !!!

Thank You ! Mahalo (hawaiian)! Salamat (filipino)

DJ Stealth and JJ Productions....When I hear Music, it makes me DANCE DANCE DANCE !!

You won’t find him as a “New Kid on the Block”, or your regular “Twist and Shout” fan, nor does this guy “…Give Love a Bad Name”… Disc Jockey Stealth has been long spinning, since vinyl, over the past 20 years; sharing the love of music to Chicagoans and parts of the Midwest region including Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
Stealth, the name received as early as high school, started as a DJ for high school and college parties moving into the Downtown Chicago Club scene. From there, a joint venture with a family friend quickly moved them onto where the grass grows ‘greener’ - weddings, reunions, bar mitzvahs, debutants, fundraisers, bridal showers and almost any type of social events.  Master of ceremonies and mixer, Stealth goes above and beyond creating the service of music in any social event to be as memorable as the reason for the party itself!!

DJ Stealth, a.k.a. Jonathon Lalas, has partnered with other local DJ associations to establish a professional foundation: AK Sound Tech and Club Circuit DJ etc. bringing music to life in any event! Recently, this career has branched into the business of his dreams and in 2005 J&J Productions was born.  JJP uses clear sound, providing dazzling light shows, personalized CD mixes and, as always, “The Best Variety of Music!”

Music for everyone! Latino dances, Italian & Greek weddings, Philippine folk dances, country and yes, even your very own ‘club’ nightlife DJ.  He can bring back the roaring 20’s, the 60’s, the 80’s and play at baby’s first birthday. Being by his side, as a witness to his ability to adapt to different crowds, I asked him, “How do you know what the crowd likes to hear?” He said, “THIS is what I love to do, it comes naturally”.

J&J Productions proudly offers our time and talent to God from which all this is possible.  When DJ Stealth is not behind the turntables, he’s Jon – my husband and a down to earth man that loves spending his time with our two dogs and in the kitchen, mixes a mean pot of chicken noodle soup!

Joselle Nayre-Lalas
Life partner to DJ Stealth

Thank you for supporting J&J Productions at the First Annual Indie Jubilee.

For more info you can contact J&J Productions at jjp.djstealth@gmail.com

Yummy Yummy Pastries will be in the house!!

About JOY: This all started when The Mom started making homemade bake goods from the Philippines.  When The Mom decided to move to California with the rest of the Filipinos, Joy started to miss Mom's home- cooked meals and pastries. Joy started baking and cooking slowly until she had a cookbook full of recipes that reminded her of her childhood.  As she started to learn the various recipes, friends and family requested a variety of bake goods they had when her Mom was around.  Joy is in currently in the process of starting her own catering company while baking up new recipes at the same time.  In the process of planning, she experiments and learns new things from her mistakes.  Joy believes the best way be successful is by going on misadventures .  Each error gets you closer to the perfect bite.  She has been intrigued by all different cuisines and each once influences her one way or another.
Stop by her booth to fill your sweet cravings - I know WE will !

Cookies for babies...9 months and older !!

Elizabeth's bake shop, Cookies For Babies, was born from the desire to give her daughter (then 9 months old) a wholesome cookie made with only natural and organic ingredients - after all, cookies are a wonderful part of being a kid (and a parent)!
Seeing the excitement and happiness of her daughter (now 5 years old) and her friends, every time she baked for them encouraged her to share Cookies For Babies with us!

Unfortunately she will not be participating at the event, as she is located in Atlanta, but you can conveniently purchase her cookies online OR better yet visit your closest WHOLE FOODS market as she is slowly making her way to stardom! Thanks Elizabeth and good luck!!

A Special Thank You to Dona Ana - Her Creative Inspirations in Spanglish...

A special Thank You to Janelle from Dona Ana. Along with the rest of the generous indie bloggers out there, you have not only helped me spread the word about Indie Jubilee but you have inspired me to continue to make every attempt to update my blogs with whimsical, fun, inspirational items and stories/entries that my readers would appreciate!

Here is a mini bio of Janelle from Dona Ana.
After livin’ la military life for 7 years with her hubby, they settled in dusty ol’ Oklahoma. Graduated college with a BFA in Graphic Design, and got an adult job as an in-house designer for the arts & crafts retail giant Hobby Lobby. But even though  she enjoyed her job, she still had the itch to express her creativity in other outlets. This gave way to her blog where she showcase some of her original illustrations inspired after her Latin upbringing and the many little stories and sayings from her lovable abuelita Ana. Feel free to peruse Janelle's work & her blog is full of inspirational items & places.

Gracias Janelle !! Just simply click on her logo up top and follow her blogs, you'll be amazed by some of her inspirations !!

Featured Vendor at the Indie Jubilee...

substance designs is a small independent jewelry company owned, operated, and artistically developed by Carolyn . She has a small studio in a Chicago condo where the magic happens. When possible she uses vintage and second-hand jewelry pieces that is "upcycled" by working into current handmade creations, creating one-of-a-kind goods. Carolyn travels frequently and is constantly on the lookout for new finds that have been neglected by the years.  Whenever possible she purchases locally, support products made in the USA, and love to scour second hand stores in search of broken pieces that can be reincarnated.

A taste of Espresso thy Art - Chicago

Featutured Vendor at the Indie Jubilee...

Living in Chicago you have your share of cafes to hang out and wind down. Sometimes these dives become a bit crowded and the level of noise is turned so high you cannot seem to concentrate on your studies or have an intimate chat with that special friend of yours. As much as I love our local Starbucks, I sometimes avoid the jam packed venue and hop on over to my favorite mom and pop cafe called Espresso Thy Art - now that is my kind of coffee! The ambience is quiet, serene, and the owners are very personable. One of my favorite coffee shops that I recently frequent - located in the NorthCenter area off  Irving Park and Damen.

Espresso Thy Art Café, owned by Rossana Reformado, Marissa McCormack and Virginia Castro, opened its doors in May in the space once occupied by Balingit Bakery. With their first summer behind them, the business is on its way. It’s a venture that would make their father, owner of Balingit Bakery, proud. Rossana, the resident artist, explained, “He wanted to retire and suggested I use the space as a gallery but I really wasn’t comfortable taking on a gallery. So we came up with the concept of a café that showcases the work of local artists. “

Visit this shop and just hang out for a few hours, the coffee tastes just as good as Starbucks, but the art, sandwiches, and filipino pastries are also worth the stay! If you won't be in the city anytime soon you can mingle with them at the Indie Jubilee. See you there!

Preparing yourself for a successful show !

Our show is just about a month away and I found this great article on ehow to help you get organized! These are great pointers to follow and make your booth a success ! If you have any questions or any other requests regarding your booth please contact me any time !

Things You'll Need:

  • Display Tables
  • Vertical Displays
  • Outdoor Tent or Canopy
  • Tabletop Displays and Easels
  • Signage
  • Drop Cloths or Sheets (for overnight protection)
  • Lighting with Extra Bulbs
  • Extension Cords
  • Tablecloths
  • Folding Chair
  • Business Cards
  • Notebook for Mailing List Sign-up
  • Gift Boxes / Bags
  • Scissors and Tape
  • Calculator
  • Invoices
  • Pen and Notepad
  • Cash Change
  1. Step 1

Determine logistics. Find out ahead of time if the show is being held indoors or outdoors, and what size booth space you have to work within. The average booth space is 10'x10' or smaller.

  2. Step 2

Inquire if lighting will be provided or if you will have access to electrical outlets.

  3. Step 3

Take inventory. Gather all of you products together to price them and take a detailed inventory. This will help you to keep better track of your products while selling.

  4. Step 4

Make a checklist of all the items you need for the show including: all displays, promotional materials, signage, decor, office supplies, etc.

  5. Step 5

Set-up a practice display ahead of time to determine placement of your products within the allotted space. A pre-planned display will significantly speed up the actual set-up process on the day of the show.

  6. Step 6

Promote aggressively. Once you have booked an art and craft show, start promoting it immediately. Send out email invites to all your friends, family, and previous customers with details of the show. Blog about the upcoming show to build anticipation and show up in search results for people looking for more information about the event. Take part in the advertising by offering images of your work to the show organizers for the promotion posters, postcards, and website.

  7. Step 7

Contact previous show participants to gather advice, experience and additional tips so that you know what to expect as far as sales and turnout.
